Location: Toronto, Ontario
Type: Interior Renovation
The Campus Store, Town Square and Retail units mark the final phases of the interior renovation for the Humber College Retail strategy project.
Prior to the renovation, it had been 30 years since the Humber bookstore had undergone a renovation. The Campus Store aims to reduce its physical footprint and shift towards a more online-focused operation. The clean wood accents create a soft and inviting atmosphere, while the custom pod displays enhance the presentation of products for sale. The edge-lit glass walls give off a futuristic look while energizing the retail experience.
The remaining area forms a student-centred Town Square for students to use for study, socializing, or grabbing a bite from one of the retail food vendors. The new forum for student gathering comes complete with a presentation wall, a new accessible ramp, and student pod areas.
The custom seating pods offer dynamic seating options with a multileveled study area. The pods act as a combination of an art piece and a usable space for students to have a private space within a very public area.
ATA’s goal for this project was not only to revitalize the campus’s retail offerings, but also to significantly enhance the overall student experience, by creating a more connected, accessible, and engaging environment.
